Recently we have received many questions about about our hand sanitizer. We have complied the most frequently asked questions in one place for you to access.

Q: How does your product work? Is is safe?

Yes. Our product is 100% safe for the whole family to use.

Our solution uses a low concentration (.13%) of benzalkonium chloride (BZK) as the initial sanitizing agent. Once rubbed onto the skin, the BZK rapidly evaporates and leaves behind EV360™, our nano-technology that binds itself to your skin cells (in other words it wont transfer to other surfaces including your food). This is how we provide lasting protection until the top layer of skin is naturally “sloughed” off after 24 hours.

EV360™ is an invisible microbiostatic coating that protects the surface it has been applied to against damaging microbes.

Q: Is the 24 Hour Defense™ Foaming Hand Purifier safe for toddlers?

Yes. 24 Hour Defense™ Foaming Hand Purifier is safe for children of all ages. Since the hands on a toddler are significantly smaller, we recommend 0.5-1 pump instead of the 1-2 listed on the back of the bottle. Simply because you want to make sure the solution is fully rubbed in and the hands are nice and dry before your toddler sticks them back in their mouth.

Q: I’m being told I have to use 70% alcohol. Does your product work?

If you use an alcohol based hand sanitizer, it needs to be at least 60%-70%. But alcohol is not the only way to sanitize the hands. Benzalkonium chloride (the active sanitizing ingredient found in our products) has a long history as an effective sanitizing agent.

Q: Can you or should you continue to use hand sanitizer when using 24 Hour Defense™ Hand Purifier?

We do not recommend continuing the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers for the simple fact that they offer no lasting protection, and you do not need them while using our product.

DO continue to wash your hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds and rest assured that you are not reducing the effectiveness of our products when you do so.

Q: Can I use this product with hand lotions?

For best results we recommend putting 24 Hour Defense on your hands before putting any type of lotion on your hands.  This will allow the lasting protection part of our product to effectively bond to your hands.  If you do it the other way around, it is possible that the protection will actually bond to the lotion instead of your skin,  and then could wipe off with that lotion.

Many of our customers tell us that the moisturizing of our product works so well they no longer have to use lotion. Hopefully that will be true for you as well.  But if you do use a moisturizing lotion , use it after you apply 24 Hour Defense and try to use one that doesnt leave a residue on your hands as too much lotion residue could impair the effectiveness of the 24 Hour Defense by "covering up" the protective spikes.

Q: Do I have to reapply the product after washing my hands??

No, you do not have to reapply after hand washing. The on-going protection of 24 Hour Defense bonds very effectively with your skin and doesn’t come off until your body sloughs off the outermost layer of skin cells which is about the 24 hour mark.

If you are very aggressive in washing your hands - like using a brush to scrub vigorously- then you may want to consider applying more than once a day due to the abrasion of the brush.  But normal hand washing with soap does not affect the lasting protection.
